Barry,

I'm a bit confused. On the web page, it says:
Say that you have downloaded a source package from the Internet and want to compile it and use in Puppy. In that case, you don't need Unleashed, you don't need Sourcerer. All you have to do is download the file usr_devx.sfs from the Puppy download site on ibiblio.org, reboot Puppy and you're in business.
But that paragraph then links to a page that talks about installing Vector Linux. Do I need another distribution to go with the above mentioned file, or is that all I need to compile applications for Puppy?
Walt

Now that you point it out to me, the answer seems painfully obvious.

best instructions for using usr_devx.sfs

Walt,
You are quite right, it is confusing.
I haven't updated the "How to compile applications for Puppy" page yet.

The best instructions for using usr_devx.sfs are on the News page.
...I'll put a temporary note about that in the Puppy from Scratched page.

After reading what I could find, I'm assuming that, in addition to the usr_devx.sfs file, I will need Puppy 1.0.5 and would not be able to use it with 1.0.4. Correct?

That's right, you need 1.0.5alpha2.

I'm getting about ahead of myself by uploading that page, as so much is a work-in-progress. Puppy Sourcerer is still some way off...
