Xorg, Xvesa can't run Trident CyberALADDiN video card?

I am unable to run the LiveCD using either Xorg or Xvesa. Xorg just hangs on "Probing video hardware, please wait..." Xvesa says "This script will run X windows for you... 0x0111 640x480x16 .Starting X with video mode 0x0111 and mouse pasux". This laptop uses the Trident CyberALADDiN video card. Any ideas on what I can do?

http://newsletter.toshiba-tro.de/main/index.html has some information on getting your video working with linux, but how easy it would be to apply to puppy specifically...?
