Thanks guys :D , I now have the button in .xpm format, but how do I change buttons in icewm? I noticed my thinblack2 theme i'm using came with several.

Edit: I got around it by giving it the same name as the button I was using:

Thanks dejan, your artwork is some of the best. I'm still using your clockskin as you can see. :)

AF Branden, it looks very nice. The black part can be made transparent so that it can go with different colored themes.

Here are a couple themes which I hacked together. The Metallic-Red taskbar is from a theme that I made for WinXP a while back. You can get them here:

Thanks Tman for sharing that really nice theme! ( Red's my colour btw! ;) ) That has a far "milder look" than the "glaring red" of the BT105 theme I've used in the past and so this will be enjoyable using when in the IceWM interface.

Again Tman: Thanks for sharing. Keep up the fabulous work you've contributed to Puppy!

@Pa: Once again, love your site as well my fellow Puppian friend! One of my favourite drop off spots whenever I have a bit of time to read, etc. Your love for Puppy and IceWM is truly wonderful to see. Thanks for sharing! 8)

Eyes-Only,

I'm glad you like my theme and thanks for the nice comments, but I don't have a web-site so, it must be someone else with the same alias.

Hi Tman :)

That last line there was to Pa ( @Pa: ) as he has one great IceWM website. If you ever get the chance you aught to click his link and visit for awhile. ;) Not only does he have a literal mound of info regarding the Ice window manager but the man is a virtual storehouse and authourity on tcl/tk programmes/programming, sharing many wonderful and helpful little apps from his site.

I wished I had even a quarter of this gentleman's knowledge...

Ciao/Amicalement,

Here's my current theme. It's based on one of MU's themes (Thanks MU!). From memory I added animated buttons, changed some colours and fonts, and of course made it more shiny. I've been using this for over a year I think. (And yes, you do get used to buttons on the left of the title bar :-)

I have it optimised for netbook use, where on maximising a window the title bar is hidden, and with a collapse taskbar button. If you would like these features, there is a prefoverride file inside the folder, which you can copy to your ~/.icewm directory or merge with your existing one. This also moves the taskbar to the top.

Simply extract LeopardEyes.tar.gz in ~./icewm/themes.

Hi,
I found how to change the icon for applications in the toolbar;
Now had like to change the icon of the folder window wich is displayed along in the taskbar whenever a window is opened (hide/show Taskbar window icon enabled in the icewm configutation menu).
Thanks for any answer.

Hello, Agnishom.

There is no "install" as in the Windows world. You simply download the
icewm theme from a site, you unpack it and then you copy the theme
folder to /usr/share/icewm/themes. You don't need to restart icewm,
it'll show up immediately under menu->settings->themes.

Best regards.

Attached is the JWM version of my flat Win9x Modern GTK theme. GTK theme to be downloaded from here:

The JWM version is mostly the same as the Openbox one, except with round corners.

Is there any up to date guide on icewm?

Is there any up to date guide on icewm?

I noticed, when browsing themes, found xpm names not mentioned in the icewm manual.

A good example of this is icewm.xpm. Another name for the start button.

Apparently the icewm guide does not begin to cover everything needed to
create themes.

Where can I find a good theme guide on icewm?

Hello all.

I have created variants for the urbicande theme, in shades of green, blue,
silver and bronze. It is one of the older icewm themes, but still quite original.

Since this board does not allow uploading the same material twice, if
interested, please get them from this post. Sorry for the inconvenience.

There is also a screen cap there of the silver variant.

Enjoy.
