Hi,

Any other download mirrors to download the files? I have been trying
for the past 24hrs, but always intermittent disconnections and unable to to download a complete file.

:D

You can download the new puppy-217-zh_CN.iso from

http://puppyisos.org/isos/2007-07-to-12/Chinese/

You can download it now and have a try!

Hope you have a good experience.

Good luck!

thanks ccec, just downloaded your chinese puppy 217 and it's great!

i was wondering if you have any plans to make a chinese version of puppy linux 3?

also, just to echo nyu's point:
It will be nice to have a Chinese
Forum. Can we still use the existing one?

http://freeforums.bizhat.com/index.php? ... owforum=22

At this moment, nobody is maintaining it. There are a lot of spams.
are there any active forums for puppy linux in chinese at the moment?

you are welcome, Soupbean

I have recently built a Chinese forum for Chinese Puppy Linux, called E-PUP Linux Chinese forum: http://e-pup.5d6d.com/

And I will make a Chinese Puppy Linux 3.00+ later.

Chinese input and Puppy NOP3.01

#21 Post by Marcel »

I have installed Puppy NOP 3.01, but my old Chinessupport.pup doesn't seem to work with it - although it did when I ran Puppy217.
Is this a kernel problem? Any hope of an update?
What I want to do is input pinyin and get the appropriate simplified character, in Abiword, but I don't want the whole ChinesePuppy ( no disrespect - it's a great puppy!).
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
谢谢

Oops - I just noticed nyu's post saying that Chinessupport.pet probably won't work with Vn3.00 because it has a different kernel fom 2.17.
Dare I hope someone will fix it for Vn300? Sorry I don't know how to do it!

thank you Eric for your hard work,

also thanks Soupbean,

Marcel, I'll probably make a .pet for the Chinese support,

Also I have got an answer to this question,

first download them:

chinese_input-0.01.pet

fcitx-3.0.2-1.i386.rpm

then put any Chinese fonts in /usr/share/fonts/default/TTF,

click on the chinese_input-0.01.pet in the rox-filer and install it,

and then type this in terminal:
#rpm -i fcitx-3.0.2-1.i386.rpm
at last, modify /etc/profile & /root/.xinitrc, add this to them:

Code: Select all

export LANGUAGE="zh_CN.UTF-8"
export LC_CTYPE="zh_CN.UTF-8"
export XMODIFIERS="@im=fcitx"
export GTK_XIM_MODULES="fcitx"
export QT_XIM_MODULES="fcitx"
OK, done!

Restart X and you might be able to use Chinese input in Puppy 3.01

wget

#33 Post by raffy »

One way for downloading reliably is use wget in console.

- copy the download link and paste to a text page (say, in leafpad)
- highlight the download link (keep it highlighted)
- open a terminal* and type as well as do these keystrokes:

wget SHIFT INSERT ENTER

which will start the download

* It will be best if you go to the folder where you want save the file then right-click in Rox to open the terminal window.

Hi to all Chinese-speaking Puppy users

I've tried to update the Puppy wiki page for Chinese Simplified:
http://puppylinux.org/wikka/ChineseLanguageS

I hope it is more up-to-date now; I've added Caneri's mirror for Chinese Puppy software and the E-Pup forum, as well as deleting some of the out-of-date links.

Please make any improvements/translations you can.

also there's the Traditional page that needs help
