PawedCasting - Pod Casting |
|
Kenny (klhrevolutionist)
has created this page
http://www.goosee.com/puppy/wikka/PawCasting
where you will find my second pawedcast
I used the enclosed files at the beginning and end of the podcast
I used wavesurfer.tcl rather than the XS Sound Editor (they are from the same author) - I believe klhrevolutionist, you are creating a DotPup?
The reason for using wavesurfer is I could not work out cutting and pasting or importing of wav files (combining separate wav files) with XS Editor - any advisement on doing this with XS Sound Editor welcome . . .
To unzip the enclosed file click on it
find it using this program from the Start menu
use Start / File Managers / MtoolsFM / Utility / Unzip

KlhRevolutionst has done his 3rd pawedcast here:
http://tinyurl.com/8jsql
in MP3 format
Where are the first two?
The sound quality is good (double click on the speaker bottom right to click and drag the volume UP)
Do you have things to say about Puppy - let's hear your voice
Good job Kenny, look forward to hearing more This will catch on - we have to stick at developing it . . .

With a mic you can record online (maybe a java program) and send an mp3 as an email eg. lobster@podomatic.com

My Linux story |
|
Latest pawedcast - sorry this is just over two meg - tried to dot pup and put it into an archive - but got muddled
It is really is the story of how I got into Linux (notice I do not pronouce it Leenocks or Lienocks) - also I get confused thinking Slax and slackware are the same distro - not so
http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=other&file=ontopuppy.ogg
I talk a lot about Windows
here is a text based version of the same story which should download quicker . . .
http://peace.wikicities.com/wiki/HolyGeek_Linux_Report
Incidently like that animated gif penguin at the bottom of the page - created freely - no restrictions feel free to use it . . .

just to continue my pawedcast-as-dotpup experiment
i uploaded your Sep 22, 2005 My Linux Story pawedcast to ourmedia and made a dotpup that downloads it to my-documents/PawedCasts (resumable ... just click the dotpup again), checks the md5sum, and plays it in gxine ... click the dotpup again to play it again, it won't download it if it's already downloaded ... delete the ogg file anytime you like
(i renamed the ogg file to pawedcast2.ogg)
(there's a dotpup attachment at the bottom of this post, but you do not see it if you are not logged in)

Here is a direct link to dvw86 first ever fast talking rant and pawed cast
http://tinyurl.com/cqx6a
Great sfuff
You recorded to Mp3 - no problems with that - came through OK
(I am going with ogg vorbis - that may mean some Mac and Windows listeners will have to find the required software but I like Ogg and so does Puppy)
Dan mentions the Mac a lot. My brother in law is thinking of getting the 20" Imac - the whole computer is built into the thick monitor. Much higher spec than the Emac. He is about 60% there. I get his old Dell.
Mac I believe are changing their processor to Intel/AMD (OK with perhaps customising) so more integration and OS X is Unix (BSD) - I have only used a Mac once at work for some DTP - I found it simple. I liked it. Too expensive for me. Mac is used mainly for graphic design in the UK - practically all business is now done on PC's.
Great to hear your comments about Puppy Hope to hear more soon.

Menu pawed cast |
|
OK this is over 4 meg - so a big download for dial up users - sorry
My latest ogg vorbis format pawed cast
http://tinyurl.com/8hk9x
Also the editing is a bit choppy - interference is me fiddling with the mic. Changes in volume - oh boy . . . still learning . . .
I have gone through all the Puppy menu items that I use as well as I am able - so if I make some mistakes - for example [ahem . . .] I could not remember what the green button on the left in the FTP program does . . . only connects that's all . . . what a fool that Cructacean is . . . Also I speak quite fast.
In the future I may do stuff in more details. Maybe you have requests? Remember we have real smart cookies using Puppy, maybe they will go into details of programs.
Don't worry about accents - I loved hearing Ians Oz accent and the Arkansassy statement "not a lot gowin' on there . . ." from The Revolutionist - wonderful. I may do my Arakansa imitation accent next time - for you all to laugh at . . . at the moment I am trying to be very serious . . . gotta get used to the technology . . .

This is a couple days early, as I have been wanting to keep consistency with a monday pawcast.
But, with a later release date for 1.0.5 I thought I would go ahead and do an early pawcast

PawCasting Page |

Maybe we can rearrange the Wiki PawCasting page by topic rather than date, for easy reference, and a few lines at the top for What's New (for the week)?

I kinda like it the way it is, but to make it easier we can add a description
of some sort. So that people can know how old the cast is as well as what it is about.
The larger files that are hosted on yourfilehost.com only stay up for 14 days, unless they are
downloaded within that 14 day period, but don't hold your breath as I have seen dotpups
vanish before the 14 day period.
I have used this site for a while, well ever since puppian brought it to my attention!
And have had to make sure on a daily basis that everything is there, if it's not I upload
it. So, if the pawcast are small enough to fit on the forum no worry.
But it is impossible for anyone to say anything in that small pawcast.
So, to make it simples and sweets!!!
Just add a description of what your dotpup is about!!!
That is unless puppian can split the page into 2 panes???
Then we could have one with dates and another pane for description or subject.
***Feel free to change it just make it easy and understandable.***
Although i have edited the acl's for only registered users to edit the page.
This is only for protection from????????

Yep I agree with Raffy . . . but klh does the page so unless it is changed - his is the way for now
Only 14 days?
Pah - Once I get going I expect 14 years minimum - need to sort out that archive location G2 suggested . . .
When are we going to hear from you again Raffy?
I would like to hear thoughtjourney (creator of the JWM configurator) recite some of her poetry. And what does G2 sound like?
More pawed cast guys - show us how it is done . . .
What no Puppy poetry? tsk tsk . . .
I will be writing some soon - you have been warned . . .

the help pages for ourmedia can be hard to find
ourmedia faqs
How long will my materials be stored? Did you say forever?
What’s the maximum file size I can upload?
You could, in theory, upload a 5-gigabyte video file ...
Sure, deck your limbs in pants,
Yours are the limbs, my sweeting.
You look divine as you advance . . .
Have you seen yourself retreating?
