Broadcom network card/Dell Inspiron 9300 problem |
|
Hello,
I managed to boot Puppy 1.0.4 from a 265Mb usb key but I have problem activating my network card. The driver is recognized ok but I still have a "network cable unplugged" error.
My card is a Broadcom 440X 10/100 running on a Dell Inspiron 9300.
Does it help if I download and install the "official" driver for Linux from the Broadcom site?
Any clue?
Regards,
Luciano

Any of this look familiar?
Broadcom BCM4301 802.11b Wireless LAN Client Chipset PCI
Realtek RTL8139 Fast Ethernet Adapter PCI
PCI ID: 14e4:4301
-------------
If so, I think you're screwed like me. Best of luck though. I've got 5 "PCI ID matches" for drivers in this list:
http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List
and the first three of them work don't work (i got two to go).
Anyone out there get a Broadcom Wireless Card to work with ndiswrapper?

Yes. My Buffalo G54 (a Broadcom WLI-CB-G54A-based device) is working nicely on an older IBM 600X laptop.

Scroll backwards in that thread to see the long and winding road I took to get it working ... took lots of very patient help from several of the wonderful folks on this list!
HTH ... doc

koevet,
For your Broadcom BCM 4401 ethernet controller, yes, I think you need to compile the driver (in Puppy 1.0.5alpha2) from www.broadcom.com/drivers/downloaddrivers.php
For your PRO/Wireless IPW2200BG controller, I compiled this driver recently. I will put it on a download site soon. Watch the "Announcements" forum, or email me.
