I would donate to the Puppy Linux project. IMO, it's a great project and it's so fast and portable, and it has none of the bloat that the main Linux distros have.

When I used it at first, I was like "Bleh, the GUI is horrible!" but now, I'm using it every day and saying "Goodbye KDE/Gnome, hello JWM".

DSL vs Puppy. Who is the winner? Puppy. Puppy booted quickly, as DSL hung on modprobe probing my laptop's USB half-a-dozen times.

Actually, when I have a spare few dollars (say $10 or so), I'll donate. I would love to see this project continue and make it a rising star of Linux Distros.

Are there any issues sending mail from the USA to Australia that I should be aware of?

Western Union?

Hope this helps.

It's not the size of the donation , it's the thought.
Puppy is the only freebie that I donate to.

Chris.

Barry's effort has been so serious

#36 Post by Enrique Corbellini »

I understand the gived arguments, but i cannot forget that Barry should have the same rights that Bill Gates has.
Bill is not as Barry in anything at all, not as a worker, not as a software developer, not as a solution-giver to computer's users. Jesus, not as anything.
Bill has lots of money, is that the right Barry should have? to have money?
not exactly, because Bill has other much more important right: to decide about the future of the computers. He has the key to that future, and that key is not the software, it's the hardware.
Because for Bill, the software is the excuse to make agreements with hardware developers. He needs that to preserve his handling over the world's market.
There is no future in developing more and more software without considering the hardware problem.
Let's start giving hardware solutions, FREE hardware, step by step, as we did in the past with software, and we'll soon see the doors of definitive victory.

Here is something they are doing at Pclinuxos. Might be a good idea for Puppy. The easier it is to contribute, the better.

You need to embed urls inside [url][/url] tags on this forum or they just show up as text.

Bligh you need to ensure there is no blank space at the end of the url
- otherwise you get

Code: Select all

[url]http://pupweb.org/desktop/ [/url]
instead of:
http://pupweb.org/desktop/

because we all need a hand I have edited
your post to remove the space :)

Thanks to all, that explains why I was having trouble. I don't know a lot about Puppy, so I can't contribute a lot to the forum, I thought the link might be useful.

Hello Veronica,
I am really amazed that you are ready to make donation to the people like barry,OO crowd and Mozilla crowd because no one in this world thinks about another people. This is a self-fish world.I am thinking to join LETS (Local Economic Trading Scheme) and also freecycle so that i can put on items which is no longer useful to me.Thank you very much Veronica for this information.

Yes I know that it is the thought that counts and not the exact amounts.

But I have no experience on what is supposed to be decent to give.

Sure one could look at what other devs want and give same to Barry.

not an ideal solution though

Was it a spammer? I got a notice that a post was to read but it is not here.

I still stand up for that I will sooner or later send money to Barry.

I only fail to know what would be proper to send. I mean the amount.

If I give too little that would be embarrassing. If I give too much that would be embarrassing too even of him find use for the money.

Hahah I have to persuade Bill Gates to send Barry some Millions of US Dollars.

I just made a small donation, I wish I could do more... I don't know where else to say this so I'll post it here.

As a "slightly Experienced" linux user, I have to say that Puppy really is incredible.
All I wanted to do was to breathe a little life in to my old EEPC 4G Surf and I got all that I need and more from Puppy.

1) I got my 1 windows program that I need running fairly quickly with Wine and wine tricks
2) I can use my HTC touch with a USB tether as a modem, this was very difficult to do and still incomplete with the easypeasy that is installed on my hard drive
3) I surprisingly got an Axestel CDMA phone modem connected with relative ease with no additional drivers needed. This took me hours to do on my windows 7 machine and was a major pain to do...

I realize this is all old tech stuff, and no, I'm not living in a cave, but I am right down the street from one.....

Thank You Barry And everyone Else Who Supports Puppy!

Yes I have promised myself many times that I should do it too.
I hope others consider it too. Puppy is very unique. one of it's kind.
I've tested some 75 or more Linux now on the DistroWatch list
and Puppy is outstanding in a pleasing way. Love the forum.

THANKS, BARRY

#49 Post by Skipper »

(Sorry for the bad english.)
Barry your a big man, and also a big heart, thanks for everything.
I am a happy Puppy Linux user, a very happy one.
Puppy Linux helps me a lot. I use it at work, and my boss can't believe or imagine how powerful it is. It is very impressive. I developed a simple script that uses dd and ntfsclone for cloning machines here at work, and it is of course twice faster than any other propietary application. This was a positive point for me. The script is nothing, the ability of the OS for booting from a simple USB faster than anything is ALL. Also I installed to Puppy the ClamAV and developed a simple script for the everyday use. Awesome. I can scan (with an updated antivirus) any infected machine, and repair it, in minutes, from a pendrive.

Puppy Linux means money for me. I earn money with it. We MUST to donate. Honestly I'm not doing it right now, because I'm poor, in a poor country, but I got this good job I have today, in part, thank to Puppy Linux, and I want (and I'll do it), to donate in the near future (really!)

By the moment, a big big THANKS from my heart, to you, Barry. God bless you always.

Is there a way to make it easier for US users to donate?
I have followed Puppy since the early days and started running
it regularly at about 3.0. I don't use paypal.
Cheers
