Geforce2 MX400 and Wary 5.1.1 uniproc ide

#1 Post by IICUX »

Attempt to install nvidia driver on Wary. Installed wary_devx_511.sfs.
1. Downloaded config and kernel from http://bkhome.org/sources/kernel-2.6.31.14/
2. "make prepare" for kernel sources
3. sh NVIDIA-96.43.19.run

But module does not work. Modprobe failed.
In dmesg: "nvidia: no symbol version for module_layout"

Maybe bug in kernel sources or kernel config? Or maybe in gcc version?

Wow,..
over a month since you posted,...and still no answer. Actually, I have the exact same problem of having the need for that same nvidia driver. Wary 5.1.1 seems to have the very latest nvidia drivers,...and the oldest ones for easy download from the repository (but not the legacy 96xx series). I also downloaded the sh NVIDIA-96.43.19.run driver straight from the nvidia website. I've just been too "chicken" to try it. Got my Wary set up just the way I like it,....and don't want to b0rk it, I guess. Wish there was a .pet package for this particular driver (I'm not smart enough to compile it, I'm afraid).
