Subject description: MU, Pizzagood etc sounds like a script is needed?

Hello everyone,
From time to time I install an App from Mandriva or Debian using the undeb / unrpm dotpup and the App works if I click on it in say /usr/bin/filename or /usr/games/filename ,but if I drag the exe to the desktop it no longer works. It's like it needs to be close to another file in that folder to start?
I've tried writing a script for this, but will no luck.

Have you came across this problem yourself and what did you do to make it work for you.

Maybe you wrote a small script to get it going.

I also made a new applications menu for it and put it in /usr/share/applications did ./fixmenus in /usr/sbin and it still doesn't work. (app is in menu)

Also did ./filename in terminal opens App but gives no errors?

So very interested to fine out what causes this as it has happened a couple of times before?

My dotpup-wizard usually creates a startscript.

Say, your app is /usr/local/app/application.sh

It might require files like
/usr/local/app/application.inc

Then you first must "cd" to the applications folder.

The startscript will look like this:

/usr/local/bin/app

Code:
#!/bin/bash

cd /usr/local/app

./application.sh "$@" &

Now this file also can be dragged on your desktop.
Does it work?
