PostPosted: Thu 20 Sep 2007, 14:24    Post_subject:  mythtv puppy

I am an avid mythtv user (knoppmyth) and have always wanted a frontend only bootable cd that would remember my settings.
Puppy remembers changes hmmm!
I have tried to get it working before but with no success until now.

I used puppy betaas a base, gslapt.pet to install slaxware packages.

Success yeah.

I would like some help and or suggestions to fine tune it.

Problem # 1. Slackware packages install frontend and backend I want only frontend. How can I figure out what parts I can delete?

Problem #2. I had to install mysql to get it working but according to some documentation a frontend just needs the libraries for being a client to mysql. What can I get rid of.

Problem #3. Have had no luck connecting to a Samba share on my backend. Linneighbourhood sees the machine and sometimes the share but gives an error "smb connection failed"
Samba is running on backend share is available and I can connect to it from ubuntu. (no windows machines)

Any suggestions?

Thanks

Craig
