it's one of those things where you're at the coalface & you've got to dive in & see! puppy, for a small distro, punches way above it's weight in the diversity of modem chipsets that are supported.
i know that US Robotics is like the RR of modems, but that "USB" part has me a bit concerned, in that usually USB modems use winmodem chipsets.
if that's the case with your modem, puppy can use several of the main winmodem types, but until we know what chipset your's has, we're shooting in the dark.
but you could just try booting a puppy cdrom & running Menu->System->System status->Usbview to see how it reports the modem's VendorID:ProductID, then doing a google for it.
