How to get Gateway MX-6446 laptop wireless to work?

#1 Post by blabbaboo »

Hi, just started using Puppy and love it, but absolutely cannot get my Broadcom wireless working! I've been through many posts, howto's, etc. Ndiswrapper didn't load with my XP driver, linux driver didn't either, and wireless is my only internet connection. I'm a pc tech, but this is confusing the hell out of me. Gateway mx-6446 laptop, bcmwl5.inf and .sys. Can anyone help me through this? Thanks!!

Got bcmwl5.inf to work with earlier pups..think ~ v2.12 & 3. Used .inf files quite a bit with pup but never used the sys file.

Usb wifi dongles may be an easy option. I do that when an onboard card turns into a PIA. Even swapped one out (2 screw & ~ 20 bucks).

Good pup wifi info here. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=22469

Pretty sure at one point there was a firmware fix required to use the native driver.

Depends alot what pup vers using?
