Billionton PCMCIA Ethernet Card driver problem

#1 Post by Salix »

I have an old Asus (550 Mhz) laptop that works fine with Puppy 3.01 hd full install but I can't set up internet for it. The Ethernet connection is possible through a Billionton 100Base-TX Ethernet PC Card.

None of the network modules of Puppy Network Wizard are recognised as new interface. I successfully tried the Win2000 driver of the card from the official floppies with ndiswrapper and both "new interface" and "live network" was reported by the wizard. One of the problems is that it is incorrectly recognized as wlan0 although it is definitely not a wireless connection. Beside this AutoDCHP also returns error.

It is very strange because as as I well know the PCMCIA card is RTL8139 compatible so it should have worked. What's more I can make it work on another laptop with Puppy 3.01 live CD.

How to debug it? How to remove the already loaded ndiswrapper to start over again? What is wrong with the configuration? Any advice or suggestion is welcome.
