Lexmark Z52 Subject description: It works, though odd.....
When I upgraded to Puppy 3.00, I found it necessary to wipe my hard drive, however I again had printer problems. It took some time but I was finally able to get my Lexmark Z52 printer to work with Puppy 3.00. However, it wasn't how I would have expected it to work.
I swapped out my 40Gb SeaGate for 60Gb Maxtor. I simply wiped the Maxtor, set up three partitions, then copied the contents from the SeaGate to the Maxtor. After that I installed grub to /dev/hda1 then I rebooted the computer. From there, since cups won't allow me to set up a printer without a password for root, I simply used the pdq print wizard and it worked. Naturally I did some odd things to get it to work.
Printer Name: Clyde
Location: Home
Model: LexMark
I also set it to send EOF.
That is what it took to finally get my printer to work with puppy, never mind that I running a pentium4.
My only puzzle is why is it that swapping out the hard drive and naming the printer "Clyde" worked?
