Booting from USB, puppy asks for password

#1 Post by some1new »

I just stumbled across this wonderfull little puppy, and got a usb dongle booted! And was prompted (the red one) for a password for the pupxxx file and then again in white.. I went in and saved a couple o few pages and rebooted, booting my normal system.

I then mounted the key and looked to see if the file were save don it or whether they had gone in the pupxxx file, they were not on the fs of th key so i decided they must be in the pupxxx file. I wanted some clue as to wot to do with this file so i used dd to get a few bytes from it and opened it in khexedit. To my suprise was the password i entered in plain text multiple times over!!

Have i done something stupid or uncovered a slight bug!! ???

I've not used on a USB filesystem.

According to what I've read the asking for a password is generally a sign of a corrupted pupxxx file.
