Kind of a newb at this, how do I set the desktop to require double clicking instead of single? Migrating from Windoze, and I end up starting two instances of any desktop app I want to run :)

Right click, (once), on the desktop icon 'rox' then left click, (once), on 'ROX-filer' then left click, (once), on 'Options'.

This will open the Options window, left click, (once), on Filer Windows in the lefthand menu then left click, (once), in the box beside 'Single-click navigation in filer windows'.

If you hover the cursor over this it will give an explanation on usage.

Sorry for the (onces) :-)

The opposite question, does anyone know how to or even if it is possible, to
change from double-click to single-click in GTK1 and GTK2 file-open and file-save dialog boxes?
...it would be nice to get consistency with the desktop.

not shure, but might work with gconf ,the gtk/gnome-registry.

you can call it with gconf -addvalue whatever if I remember well.
The gnome-control-center just is a grafical interface for this.
