PET maker (and PUP)

#1 Post by jimhap »

I have a nice tool I made for myself.

This script will take all the source packages (already extracted), compile them, and turn them into pets for your own Puppy distribution
(if you are making one).

That means....

If I want GIMP in my distro, I just download the tar.gz from gimp's website, extract it, and run the script!

Download:

http://coolpup.sourceforge.net/packpet

Just dowload it, open a terminal, type
chmod +x packpet

And then put your favorite programs in there!
And type ./packpet and volla!
You have pets for your custom puppy distro.

Also,

a couple editing to this script can also make PUPS! :D

If you want tell me in this topic.

pet and pup scripts

#2 Post by vovchik »

Dear jimhap,

Thanks for posting your pet-maker script. I would, as would a number of others on the forum, also like to have the dotpup script. I have always been too lazy to package the binaries I have posted - and usually just tar.gz'd them after manually inspecting the make. If I could simply run a script that would compile and perform the "make install" to a dotpup, I'd be very tempted to use it next time.

With kind regards,
vovchik

jimhap, This is an awesome script! It will be perfect for creating PETs of drivers for my own Puppy project, Puppy Linux Portable!

Thank you for posting this. I'm sure many others will find it useful too!

I made it for myself mostly, because I am lazy too....

I will soon update the script and also release packpup soon.

These scripts will lead to petpuptools, a set of simple but useful pet/pup tools.

Enjoy.... :D

"And then put your favourite programs in there!"

Where? Please expand this instruction.

Thanks, Gerry
