Hi,

Now I am a total linux/puppy noob so I aplogise if this is a silly question or if it has already been covered (I did search but to no avail)

Running pupply live CD on a pc with no hard drive is there a way download files from the internet then view them. In windows speak "save target as" If so how do I do this. e.g I want to download an MP3 file from a web page then listen to it (not stream it).

I have configured internet access OK, and I understand that the file will be gone after re-boot.

TIA Smile

What version of Puppy are you using, if you are using the latest version, 1.0.4, in Mozilla just browse to the site and click on the file you wish to download.

If it is downloadable a download window will open and you can select ' Save to disk', browse to the directory you wish to save it in and click Save.

If you are using a USB Thumb Drive with a pup001 file on it, you will be able to retain the files (until you run out of room) along with your individualized settings.

You can save the file to your home directory which is /root if you want.

Open Rox and click on the .mp3. The audio file will then play in gxine.
