Gkdial makes incorrect chat script for SmartLink modem |
|
For SmartLink modems there is a workaround to correct the chatscript line produced by Gkdial for each connection, by changing:
"" "AT&FW2"
to:
"" "ATZ"
Having to make even that change would be a bad start for new adopters of Puppy, such as the woman I plan to give Puppy to as her first experience with a PC (although she uses a Mac).
I used the workaround successfully in 1.0.5rc.
Could this be corrected in 1.0.5?
Also, if it is not already planned, it would seem to be beneficial for those using only a linmodem to connect to the Internet, to provide a .iso that includes the drivers for Lucent and SmartLink modems. The HCF and HSF driver dot-pups might also be added, if they are ready.
Thanks to all of you for making Puppy the "digestible" Linux distro.
Richard
