IE and Mozilla quit in W2K; Puppy is OK |
|
I have to use Windows because Yahoo mail offers html that works only in Internet Explorer. (I wonder if somebody isn't being paid to keep it that way.) But I also have Mozilla in Windows, and I usually use it instead of IE. This morning something happened, I have no idea what or when, but both Mozilla and IE quit working in Windows. They start, and seem to do the usual things, but after a second they say "Done" and show a blank window. They continued to do this even after a reboot.
Puppy was resting on a CD nearby so I booted it (no, I didn't kick my Puppy) and found that Mozilla works fine from Puppy.
Score one for the Pup. Fortunately I backed up the system partition on my hard drive yesterday, so if this doesn't clear up on its own I'll just pop the DVD in the drive, boot and restore.

Update:
I have no idea what caused the problem, but logging into Yahoo through the main Yahoo webpage, instead of the "My Yahoo" page, fixed it.

Flash I access my Yahoo account through the main Yahoo login window using Firefox or Mozilla in Puppy and the only thing I have noticed is that now and then I get the message when navigating around in Yahoo about "blah, blah contains no data" so I just click on the link again and it works.
Apart from that I don't have any serious problems at all.
My wife uses Firefox in Win and it runs slower than in Puppy but faster than IE and she seems to manage with no problems at all.

I can't complain. This is the first problem I've had like this with Yahoo, and I've had a Yahoo mail account for about 5 years. That's a pretty good record I guess.
