I'm with Barry on this. Why should everything be written with python?

I agree.
Not just Python, but also Fltk.

I think one of the advantages of Puppy is, that is based on Shellscripts and Gtk (or even simpler wrappers like Gtkdialog).

Both is widely spread, so there is a good choice, people can contribute patches/tools.

But not many people will know how to program Fltk.
Perl/Gtk would be another fine choice, but is not really needed to build system-wizards.
Many Web-Developers use perl, and it supports a wide variaty of libraries like SDL. So you even could programm a Doom-like Filemanager, where you shoot your files with the shotgun to erase them ;)

Here. Here.
Python is a great comedy language and I even produced this wiki page about it:
http://peace.wikicities.com/wiki/Python
I like it but then I like most languages - it is just the programming I have difficulty with . . . Puppy can not support every programming language in existence (as the bigger distros can). Klhrevolutionist produced a Python dotpup, but I think that was lost . . .
Mark Ulrich is producing work for Puppy using his tiny basic. Ian is working on a program in Tcl. Jesse (oh Jesse) is working on a front end to the tiny C compiler . . . well . . . so he sez . . .
Yesterday I tried (got in a muddle) to create a dotpup for xbasic (too big for puppy but may be of interest) John Murga produced a Perl addon which is now a pupget. We can compile in C.
Lua has not been used. What about XUL and javascript and Actionscript and javascript and Ajax and . . . ?
Look how much work G2 has achieved with scripting.
We have enough languages. Why John Murga may even give us a Java environment -
We even have nasm - assembler.

So it would be great to have yet another WM and control panel - I would rather see some of them sweet little programs in Tcl or C or wxBasicscript or script such as Thoughtjourneys JWM theme twitcher . . .
Dotpups? Well that is another thing - they can be as chubby as you like . . .
