HOWTO install on COMPAQ Notebook 100 with BELKIN Wireless

#1 Post by javier.c.sarandeses »

I have a Compaq Notebook 100 with RAM memory extension.
It has a 4Gb Hard Disk and an AMD K2 processor.
I have also a Belkin WiFi PCMCIA PCMCIA Wireless WI-FI G card F5D7010 to connect to internet.
I am using it to run amule with an external 250Gb hard disk.
Versión puppy Linux 2.17.

Here you have your step by step instalation guide for this configuration.

javier,
your Belkin device should be "F5D7010" not "FD57010"
And your instructions say to download the rt2570-070725-k2.6.21.5.pet package, which cannot be correct, since this driver package is compatible only with USB devices.

The correct driver package (for you) should be the Ralink rt2500-070725-k2.6.21.5.pet

And anyone with a Belkin F5D7010 should be aware that there are several variants of this device, each with a different chipset, and each requiring a different driver. The most recent variant is v7, which contains the Realtek RTL8185 chipset.

Thanks for the corrections Tempestuous,
you are absolutely right.

The card reference is F5D7010
And what I am really using is rt2500-070725-k2.6.21.5.pet package

I have already change my first post and the document will be corrected in a couple of days.
