http://snackamp.sourceforge.net/

Quote:

SnackAmp is a multi-platform music player with normal music player abilities, multi-user support, integrated web server, and a powerful AutoPlaylist feature. Currently mp3, wav, ogg vorbis, and many other sound files are supported. SnackAmp also plays mp3 and ogg streams and can act as a Icecast/Shoutcast compatible server for other stream clients. Both auto-leveling (normalization) and gapless playback are supported.

Following a suggestion from cb88, I've made this into a .pet, which I've uploaded here:

http://rapidshare.com/files/72356504/snackAmp-3.1.3-i486.pet

Start with Menu->Multimedia->SnackAmp.

(N.B. It works for me! I've taken the snackAmp tclkit file, and converted it to a self-extracting makeself executable.)

I had to re-upload as there was a bug using the mini-player. The resultant file is now about the same size as the tclkit original, about 1.5M.

Ok,

I didn't realise it required a Java enabled browser. If you download the tclkit snackAmp version, from sourceforge, you'll also need to download & install the tclkit, that matches your puppy's tcl version, from here:

http://www.equi4.com/pub/tk/downloads.html

Or it maybe simpler to just download, and install, the executable .tar.gz version.

Rapidshare requires javascript not java. Seamonkey, Firefox, Opera all fine.

Thankyou Muggins and cb88. I was quite impressed by snackAmp. It appears to be far better than Xmms or Audacious.

The Tcl version is a bit prettier than the executable although it takes fractionally longer to start up.

The gapless playback is a real boon for me. (a lot of Pink Floyd in my library)

The Rapidshare link appears to be dead.

Here is an alternative mirror for Muggin's TCL version:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=R58C3LFK

I haven't put that one in Pet format as there is really no need. It will start up by just clicking on it and can be installed anywhere, even outside of the pup_save file.

If you want the Pet it's here:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=Z9SO8KEM

The binary version can be used straight from the author's website.

Btw, Muggins, if you have some time to kill, could you please let me know how you made your TCL version? There is a newer version from the Author, only unimportant changes but I was trying to figure out how to get from his TCLkit versions to yours as yours is quite a bit smaller.

@Newcrest,

I'll have to have a look at it again...quite a few years since I uploaded & I've forgotten relevant details of what I did to minimise it. I'll have a squizz & get back to you.

Don't go to any trouble with it. I was just curious how you managed to shove what appears to be 3.7mb into a 1.4mb package. That's some impressive packing. I presume you are somehow using the TCL libraries in Puppy rather than the separate TCLkit.

I got a version of snackAmp running on my Slacko 5.6 derivative but only for the purposes of it being the "native" player for mp3splt - which is a utility for trimming mp3 files without distortion or re-encoding. I made a combo package including snackAmp and mp3splt in this post:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=866902#866902

(the version of snackAmp that I used looks like a programme invented by Stig the Caveman using GTK zero. It aint pretty but it has interesting features and does the job for mp3splt).
