Uploaded v5.1.1.

N.B. Anyone that downloaded the previous version, v5.0.3, and found that the Html manual didn't open, I forgot that the developer's code is looking for xdg-open, which puppy doesn't have, so have altered the source code, in this version, to just call defaultbrowser.

This Foxtoxx is a very nice program for it's purpose and I think has potential for much more. I just came back from a wedding with about 250 pics and I thought I would try Fotoxx for them. I had a ton of redeye (groan) which I was dreading because it's usually such a chore, and many needed touchup and cropping. The redeye was much simpler than I had feared. It's actually quite simple (except that when I zoomed in and then panned over, the redeye tool kept bouncing me back to the center. It sounds like yesterday's update may take care of that.) The "tune" tools for brightness/contrast and color and whiteness I found to be nice and simple yet quite versatile. When you are doing 250 pics, a quick tool and an intuitive UI is pretty important! It's also pretty small.

Anyway, I see that new versions are coming out nearly daily. Thanks muggins for keeping the pet's current. The latest one was a day after I installed mine and has a fix for a suggestion I was going to make today (the zoom thing.)

Muggins: Basic question on the .pets: Do I need to uninstall each previous version, or will the updates overwrite everything okay? I'm using Puppy 4.00.

I still have a suggestion or two. I guess I'll contact the author from the web site, unless this is an appropriate venue for that.

Thanks,

Ron

Hi Ron,

I would definitely uninstall the old version, using the package manager, as the developer often changes included files etc.

I'm sure the developer would be interested in any feedback/suggestions.

Fotoxx 5.8 beta release and invitation to test.

Normal release is planned for early January if no major issues emerge.

Significant Changes:

* Visual feedback for brightness/contrast/color edits was made faster by updating the window image instead of the (usually much larger) main image. The main image is updated when the changes are committed.
* Erratic mouse drag in warp function was fixed.
* Color balance was separated from brightness/whiteness adjustments.
* Bug fix: last translation in a .po file was sometimes getting comments appended.
* Sharpen, blur and noise reduction, when applied within an image area, can now use "blend width" to soften the boundaries.
* Added a modified "top hat" noise reduction method, which is more effective for some types of noise.
If anyone wants to try this beta release,

Edit Uploaded final v5.8. See next post.
