New Kernel Fail

#1 Post by sccat »

I have copied the vmlinuz,image.gz,and usr_cram.fs of Puppy1.0.5 to C:\
Then I use grub to boot the Puppy.

rootnoverify (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz root=/dev/ram0 PFILE=pup1-none-524288 HOME=hda1
initrd /image.gz

It succeeded.

I build a new 2.4.29 kernel (only add the cp936 support) under the instructions of this website, then copy it to C:\ .

The Puppy can boot,but can't start X.

Is the initrd-2.4.29 needed?Need I change the image.gz?
