Cups and HP PSC 1510 All in One ? or HPLIP.

Hi

I'm using Nearly Office Pupppy 3.01r1 and am trying to install an HP1510 printer. The printer is an All in One, but the important thing is to get printing working. If there is an easy fix for just printing then I'll go with that.

CUPs doesn't list the printer ... can I add a small driver so that it does appear in the list (even if only to print), if so how ?

Or should I use HPLIP as it is listed there ... If so what do i do with HPLIP.

I've only found a few posts on the forums here for the PSC 1510 but too confusing for me

Is there an easy solution for printing with the PSC 1510 or if not, what is the solution ?

Thanks.

You can get the .ppd driver here.

Scroll down for your model.

This link is a useful one for printers.

Hi Thanks

I got the ppd file from here (scroll down the page that appears)

http://www.linuxprinting.org/show_print ... P-PSC_1510

and put it in /usr/share/cups/model directory

Restarted Cups and it now appeared under HP and works :)

It now says in the HP PSC 1510 Cups list
Foomatic/hpijs (recommended) en

I'm not sure what this means but it does now print. I will test it properly later when I get time.

Sorry about the multiple posts.

When you decide that you want to get scanning working you will need HPLIP.
This thread has a link to a pet package of HPLIP which includes Xsane .

@BillWho?

Thanks for that link to the hplip_for_puppy217-17.4a-i486.pet

I'm putting it here...

http://puppylinux.ca/members/ under printing-scanners.

Should be up later today.

EDIT: Alas there is no md5sum to check this so if some brave soul will test it..I thank you. It looked like the file came down ok though.

Here is the md5sum of the copy I have saved on my hard-drive. I have used this copy several times without any problems.

EDIT: The extension .txt was not allowed so I had to gzip the file to get it to attach. It will have to be uzipped again before it can be used.
