Chinese Puppy 213 and 217

#1 Post by cecc »

:D

First I'd like to thank Barry Kauler for his great distro, then I want to thank sccat and nyu, they have made the earlier Chinese Puppies and localization packages, my work is based on their work.

And I have made Chinese Puppy 217 and improved the former Chinese Puppy 213 made by nyu with the help of google and many Puppy Linux enthusiasts.

Now there are websites in Chinese introducing these two Chinese Puppies to Chinese Puppy users.

this is a website for the project:

http://hi.baidu.com/puppylinux

this is the Chinese forum:

http://e-pup.5d6d.com/

Download:

Puppy-217 Simplified Chinese Edition & Puppy-213 Advanced Simplified Chinese Edition

File: puppy-213-zh_CN.iso
Size: 111704064 bytes
MD5: 365E1DFE7905F169DDB106A7DF8FA9DF
SHA1: B9D63C472CE6BD776EAD30A889EFDC41E3FA387B
CRC32: 1201E526

You can download them with md5sum from

http://puppyisos.org/isos/2007-07-to-12/Chinese/

The latest Chinese Puppy I have built is E-PUP Linux,

Thanks raffy and you're welcome.

Also thanks Chris for reminding me of that topic about Chinese puppies.

And I added a reply to that topic introducing my puppies in English,

"I installed Xf-prot antivirus in Chinese puppy 217, so you can use Chinese puppy 217 livecd to repair your windows pc ruined by windows viruses or save the precious data of the hard disk to other storages. And also I installed firefox Chinese edition on it as a browser besides original Seamonkey English edition.

And for my Chinese puppy 213 advanced edition I used a nice-looking font on it, so that reading Chinese webpages will no longer be a pain to Chinese puppy users, and also I added firelog on it so that Chinese puppy 213 advanced edition users can also monitor their firewalls as they probably do in puppy 217."

Please download them and have a try, you will get amazing experience!

Hi cecc,

I just saw your message today. This is great. I downloaded Chinese
Puppy and burnt it to CD. I am writing this message from Chinese Puppy.
I like to work with you and other Chinese community member to develop Chinese
Puppy with my limited technical capability. It will be nice to have a Chinese
Forum. Can we still use the existing one?

http://freeforums.bizhat.com/index.php? ... owforum=22

At this moment, nobody is maintaining it. There are a lot of spams.

Chinese Puppy 217

Thank you for testing the Chinese puppy, which edition have you tested? :)

And a better Chinese puppy 217 will be out recently.

Also welcome you and other Chinese people to give it a try. I think it might be much better than those two Chinese puppies. :D

Best wishes!

Lobster:
Why weren't the newer Chinese Pups in the news?

" In general, lobsters move slowly " ....hmmm!

.............................................

" In general, lobsters move slowly by walking on the bottom of the sea floor. However, when they are in danger and need to flee, they swim backwards quickly by curling and uncurling their abdomen.
A speed of 5 meters per second has been recorded "

cb88 :

your friend can also use Chinese Puppy 217, for many of the menus still remain in English, so it won't be a problem for English users to use this version of Chinese puppy. :D

That kind of font will be used in Chinese Puppy 217 Advanced, so you can use the font when you get a copy of that Chinese Puppy not long after.

Or, you can download Chinese Puppy 213 Advanced Editon, it has already contained this nice-looking Chinese font.

Best regards!

Hi, cthisbear & Lobster :

Well, thank you all for reminding me of the wiki. I will probably try to add it when all the work for the Chinese Puppy 217 Advanced Edition is done.

Best Regards!

:) I think it is incredible and wonderful we have a Chinese Puppy.
Barry started Puppy as an English only distro. Some of us, Raffy for example supported the translation into other languages. I too pushed for this. Others such as Rarsa did the coding and work along with Barrys constant efforts. You are to be congratulated on your achievements. I personally believe Puppy has a vast potential combined with mainland Chinese hardware. Do keep us informed. There is a great deal going on :)

Puppy is a fast moving and ever evolving distro. A Chinese translation of the manual would be great

Hi cecc,

I have tried your Chinese puppy 217. It is very nice.
By the way, you are showing a calendar in Chinese
in your above message, whick calendar program are
you using? It looks familiar. Is it from Xfce WM?
For your new Chinese puppy 217, are you going to use
Xfce WM?

Nyu,

I have recently worked out the menu problems, it used to change back to English when we install a new .pet package to it. Now this problem will not occur in Puppy 217 Advanced Editon. :D

And that calender you saw in Chinese Puppy 217 was used in the original 217 puppy, I had only translated it but not changed the WM of it.

Xfce is a very nice WM, and it's easy to configure, but I have a problem in installing it. And Jwm is also nice and easy to use, also it's the default WM of Puppy, so I will probably mainly use it. :)

Lobster:

Thank you and others in this forum very much indeed, :)

I am also very glad that Chinese users and others who want to learn Chinese can also use such a small and smart operation system -- Puppy Linux in Chinese. :)

thanks ccec, just downloaded your chinese puppy 217 and it's great!

i was wondering if you have any plans to make a chinese version of puppy linux 3?

also, just to echo nyu's point:
It will be nice to have a Chinese
Forum. Can we still use the existing one?

http://freeforums.bizhat.com/index.php? ... owforum=22

At this moment, nobody is maintaining it. There are a lot of spams.
are there any active forums for puppy linux in chinese at the moment?

I have recently built a Chinese forum for Chinese Puppy Linux, called E-PUP Linux Chinese forum: http://e-pup.5d6d.com/

And I will make a Chinese Puppy Linux 3.00+ later.
