Search the forum for "unrar" or "peazip AND dotpup" or "peazip AND dotpet"

Hi geo909,

Download & install unrar from here:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?mode=attach&id=211

Then create a temporary directory, for the .rar archive, move the archive there, then change to that directory, & on the commandline enter:

Code:
unrar e xxxx.rar

(Of course, replace xxxx with the real archive's name. The reason for moving it to a temporary location is that unrar extracts the archive holus-bolus...you'll see what I mean when you extract).

Or follow T_Hobbit's suggestion for PeaZIp, which is the RollsRoyce of archivers.

Well,
pupzip did the job!
I thought that clicking on the rar file would open pupzip automatically (that is, I thought I was using pupzip while I wasn't), so It was just the noobidity of mine!

Sorry for bothering, and thanks a lot for your time!

Well, I didn't try something like that..
Don't you get the whole thing if you open the first (xyz.r00) file?

Whatever you do, don't open a console and type:
Code:
unrar -h

And Heaven forbid visiting http://linux.die.net/man/1/ or adding it to your bookmarks.

pupzip / xarchive does work for multipart rar files...used it several times.

For automatic opening in rox this is set in 'Choices' folder in /root and /usr/local/share/ though you may be able to rightclick and use 'set run action' in rox.

Open console/terminal

Type: unrar e filename.rar

or for multi-part rars: unrar e filename.part1.rar or unrar e filename.001.rar

That file generates an error saying that it is corrupt.

Turns out that unrar was already on my computer via Puppy 3.10/ChurchPup.

No idea why it is not autodetected when one tries to open a .rar document.

The multipart command worked perfectly for me.

Thanks alienjeff!
