http://www.metadecks.org/software/sweep/

Quote:

Sweep is an audio editor and live playback tool for GNU/Linux, BSD and compatible systems. It supports many music and voice formats including WAV, AIFF, Ogg Vorbis, Speex and MP3, with multichannel editing and LADSPA effects plugins.

Puppy already comes with sweep installed, (v0.9.1), but I've compiled this version, (with pup2.16), in response to a query by Djof, here:

http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=25343

I know nothing about sweep, or it's usage, apart from knowing it's a sound editor, but was surprised that when I fired it up with a .wav file, it died with a seg-fault. Hence this attached package, which at least loads the .wav file...whether it fulfils all the other functionality is a question only users can answer.

I've only packaged as a tar.bz2 because, if you extract this to /, it will use the existing menu entry for sweep.

(N.B. oddly this version lists libtdb as a requirement, although with v0.9.1 ldd /usr/bin/sweep doesn't include libtdb. Anyway libtdb files are included with the archive)

There seems to be a problem with sweep and the alsa library files, on pup3xx versions. So I've attached re-compiled alsa-lib .tar.bz2 package here. Just extract to / .

(N.B. AFAIK this is only required for pup3xx versions).

Also on pup3xx, sweep complains about a missing llibspeex. This is available by downloading, and installing this .pet:

Strangely it seems that sweep was crashing on my pupversion, 2.16, due to problems with the sweep binary itself, whereas for pup3x versions it's crashing due to a bug in alsa-library files.

So the solution appears to be, if you're using pup3x, & sweep doesn't work, download & install the alsa-libs .tar.bz2 & the speex .pet, & then see if it's OK.

If you're using a pup2x version, and sweep doesn't work, dload the sweep .tar.bz2.

I find that the latest mhwaveedit works well.
It will both open and save to mp3 format.

It can be downloaded HERE
