Saving data back to livecd

#1 Post by pappolu »

Greetings all

I am facing some problems with saving my data back to Livecd and was wondering if any of the Puppy Experts can help me out. This will be my first post so be gentle.

Following is the Step by Step account of how I started and fell in the hole

-->> Burned a multisession CD with 1.0.4, staying in Windows XP
-->> Hard booted computer with CD in Writer Drive
-->> Booted Puppy with option 5
Note: Every thing fine, booted right into Puppy

-->> Configured some programs like Mozilla, Beaver(font)
-->> Start >> Reboot
Note: Chose to save, files written back to CD, computer Rebooted into Livecd by itself and my changes were visible.

-->> Wrote some Txt files with personal data
-->> Rebooted with save option.

This is where I saw problem with CD Writing. It showed some errors, but since screen was moving so fast I could not read waht those were, but last line read
"I/O error" and something like Joliet file something something.

Note: From that point onwards, I am not able to save anything back.

-->> I burned like 3 to 4 CDs and same thing happened with all of them. Now I am running out of money so please help me before I Burn anothe one :)

Have a nice day all of you.

First, Multisession Puppy is still experimental. You should probably consider using a CD-RW to save money and hair. :) If you have a DVD burner, another option is to try multisession Puppy on a DVD. There is a thread in the Multisession section of the forum about that.

The problem you describe seems to be fairly common. I don't recall a solution, but check the Multisession section of the forum to see.

Thanks for the feedback. :)
