Puppy 4-dingo-3.96 has grown now to dingo-3.97

#32 Post by charnisingh »

Hello all,

As i thought puppy 4 Dingo-3.96 has been upgraded now to Dingo-3.97 without any problem and all the applicatons are working OK even though there was kernel change from 2.6.24 to 2.6.21.7 and that too without any addition.

So who so ever has downloaded my " pup_save -Deep396.2fs" file from puppy ca, can upgrade to dingo-3.97 without any problem. link is given below:

Hi I actually packaged it for series 4 , you can find it here
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=27358 basically you need to install the 3 series package and then the 4 series zlibs package.
The extra libs were needed because blinky and free memory applet was compiled on the 3 series and weren't compatible.
I have since then started a new package where I use the existing series 4 blinky and free memory applet, But the problem so far that I have is that the 2 applications aren't docked in the taskbar, If anyone wants to give me a hand that would be great!!!
if not I guess I could spend days trying to fix it again :)lol everything I do takes days, nothing ever simple. lol
ttuuxxx
this is the second Beta Package for IceWm which I need help with.

Puppy 4 Dingo a7

#38 Post by charnisingh »

Hi ttuuxxx,

i tried your icewm meant for puppy 3-v1 and it asked for libImlib.so.1
which was added to user lib and started the icewm but it was not showing start menu icons then i installed your zpatch by downloading it
and all the start menu icons were now visible there.

i personally feel this one better than you made for puppy dingo 4.as blinky and mem applet dock on the taskbar whereas this was not the case in icewm meant for puppy dingo 4.

thanks.

also add on zpatch, posted above it will give you 100% of all the icons .
The problem was that you've place icons in usr/local/pixmaps
where this isn't default for icewm, so I had to add that location to icewm. Plus your /etc/xdg/templates/_root_.icewm_menu <--- outdated , Its using the old icon names from the 3 series.

Dingo beta and EEE pc network module

#41 Post by mikeinrichmond »

The EEEpc uses the atl2 module for wired networking and only the atl1 module is in the setup (doesn't work). Tried several others to no avail. I'm currently using Pupeee which works fine, but wanted to surf with the latest. Any chance we could get the EEE wired and wireless modules into the next beta?

Thanks

Hi,

I am testing the last version 3.98.
it looks very nice and is working fine.

I heave one problem and that is the Wireless-connection.

My AP has WPA2 and WPA/AES..
WPA2 is not working and WPA/AES does not excist for so far I can see.
Scanning for Ap's gives me a full list of excisting AP's, so the driver is active.
So it also could be a problem in Puppy.

Perhaps it is a setting-problem. I tries all the settings and it is not working.
Spec of my laptop:
- Intel Centrino Duo T7100,
- Intel Pro Wireless 3945 ABG

I hope this help You (and me) to solve the problem.

My gratulations for such a good work.

Grtz.

puppy 4 dingo 3.96 upgrade to puppy 4 beta 2

#45 Post by charnisingh »

Hi har_singh and all others,

i have made clean frugal install of puppy 4 beta 2 today without any problem.

i have also upgraded my pup_save-Deep-396.2fs to puppy 4 beta 2 and found to be OK. all the applications installed in that save file are working OK,
only exception is MUT which is not working. all the forum friends who have downloaded my 396 save file can upgrade to puppy 4 beta 2 without any
problem and enjoy the benefit of many applications which are difficult for newbies to install and make the applications function as well.

THANKS TO BARRY.K AND HIS TEAM.

Flash Youtube

#47 Post by vito »

Hello Mr. Singh.

I'm wondering if you have been able to overcome the playback problems of flash videos from sites like youtube in your flavor of puppy. I have read the forums on this but have found no solution that works.

Does flash video playback smoothly in Singh-Dingo? Judging by your screen shots it looks to be a great puplet.

Mny Thx in Advance.

puppy 4 beta 2

#48 Post by charnisingh »

dear vito,

i never installed flash at that time so i would not be in a position to say any thing on that however i did try u tube and found it receive broken videos so i did not try much on that. you can download my pup_save-Deep.2fs rar file and enjoy many other worthy applications by using it along with puppy alpha 3.96 or later versions by upgrading it . to know about use of save2fs file please read the puppy master's blog as well as forum posts if you are not aware of it.

thanks and regards.

iso file

#49 Post by vito »

Hello:

I downloaded the remaster 394.iso but when I try to boot it I get a kernel error.

However, I have the deep file so I suppose it is reasonable to assume that it will also work with the Newest vanilla dingo beta 2 and there then would be no need for the singh-dingo iso anyway, correct?

Mny Thx,
Vito

puppy 4 alpha 3.96

#50 Post by charnisingh »

Dear Vito.

Deep396.2fs is a save file which has to be used along with puppy 3.96 or later versions of puppy as save file. i am on frugal install and found no problem in upgrading it to puppy 4 beta 2. i am sure it will work fine in case you know how to use a save file.

thanks and regards.
