As you can see, it will be a full KDE from Slackware.
Amarok, KPDF, Koffice and other nice tools.
They seem to run out of the box in Icewm, without that I had to add customized scripts.
Of course you also can run KDE as complete desktop instead of using Icewm.
The squashfs will be around 350 MB, with en_US, en_GB and german.
I use mkkde to build it.
There were missing some files in the Slackware-repository, at least they were not in the same folder as the other KDE-downloads.
E.g. Artsd and some libs.
So I used them from KDE357j that was posted here some months ago.

I will do some more checks about missing libs, and then build a new sfs for upload.

I also tried to make a sfs of KDE4 from http://esslackware.blogspot.com/2008/01 ... re-12.html
It had some problems to start. and I think it does not look so nice at first sight.
Black taskbar, so as they try to mimic vista.
But it looks not very elegant. Also the desktop-widgets don't look as nice as the gdesklets.
And the startmenu - hm...
I also could not see significant speedup-details.
In contrast, if things are not as the desktop likes, it is slown down by warnings (e.g. if the .desktop files miss some lines).
So I think I will not continue to get that running well.
You can see however the new libraries have some potential.
A release 4.1 that shall come in autumn, might look much different already.
Lets give the KDE-Team some time to polish things up, and not forget, that 4.0 was intended for developers only.

Slackware 13 will contain KDE 3.5.9:
