No support for mono-sound

#1 Post by Kark »

I know this is not a puppy-specific problem, but still:

I can't record in mono. This is true for several soundcards. (I've got Intel i810 Ac'97 I on my laptop I think...). Why record in mono? For speech analysis, and for getting small files to include in webpages.

I use Puppy 1.0.3 (still unable to boot later versions...)

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks for your swift reply Lobster! I appreciate that :D, but unfortunately the problem is a bit more fundamental. Audacity or Wavesurfer or whatever: none are able to record in mono. There seems to be a problem with the support for the soundcard (quite a few soundcards). Maybe some other kernel might work better, I don't know. these things are far beyond my comprehension, so I don't know where to start.

The Audacity-pup is very very good to have though. I was trying to compile that myself, without success, so I was very happy when it came.
