puppy on hd partition by brute force

#16 Post by marvinudy »

My machine has three drives with multiple partitions. I installed puppu v 1.05 on its own partition this way: Use method two form the live cd and custom choose the partition. Install grub into the puppy 'root' partition. Reload the puppy live cd using the 'ram' option. Copy the entire 'usr' folder from the 'ram' option onto another drive partition that puppy recognizes. Then reboot into any other bootable partition and copy the entire 'usr' folder into the new dedicated puppy partition. You can delete the pup001 file. Adjust the grub boot loader you use with suitable entries. .

A dedicated puppy on a hd loads super fast and runs fast. I installed opera 8.5, streamtuner, skype and full XMMS.

running p-4 @1.8Ghz, 512 ram, maxtor 100GB hd (13parts).
