You are entering the timezone

#1 Post by mikeb »

I was having a problem with changing timezone...the clock would not show the correct time on xfce4 and running anything in wine threw up lots of TZ_INFO errors.

The cure was to revert to the TZ variable using UTC+n format rather than PUP+n.
Whilst changing this I ended up re-doing the timezone-set applet using Xdialog which to me gives a neater layout.

Here's my version If anyone wants to try.
Was written for 2.xx series puppies though may still be useful for later ones.

I tried it
had to do a complete reboot before it worked
but it did the job in Puppy Lassie which was showing the wrong time until I installed your program :)
Puppy Raspup 8.2Final 8)

Yep needs total reboot to clear/set variables...rebooting X isn't enough.

I just got wine 0.9.56 working which doesn't seem to object to 'PUP' in the TZ file as it happens.

The wizard no longer needs gtkdialog(1) which is being phased out :)

glad it was helpful

thx,

replaced /usr/sbin/timezone-set with your version .... reboot
...works perfectly for me.

ps. would you please mark the changes you made in the file, so developers can trace things back ?
