Globetrotter HSDPA USB modem not working
Posted: Tue 04 Mar 2008, 08:08
Ok, I have a Globetrotter HSDPA Modem and it doesnt work.
I used first the info from this site:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=262867&page=2
Tried the how-to on that site and got error:
# rmmod usb-storage
# modprobe usbserial vendor=05c6 product=0x1000
It came with # again and then I tried
# ls -la /dev/ttyU*
ls: cannot access /dev/ttyU*: No such file or directory
So I guess this one doesnt work to set up the globetrotter HSDPA modem.
Then I found this site:
http://www.net42.co.uk/os/linux/d620_3g_datacard.html
So I typed this command in terminal window
# cat /proc/bus/usb/devices
Got this text for the modem:
T: Bus=02 Lev=01 Prnt=01 Port=00 Cnt=01 Dev#= 6 Spd=12 MxCh= 0
D: Ver= 1.10 Cls=00(>ifc ) Sub=00 Prot=00 MxPS=64 #Cfgs= 1
P: Vendor=05c6 ProdID=1000 Rev= 0.00
S: Manufacturer=Option N.V.
S: Product=Globetrotter HSDPA Modem
S: SerialNumber=Serial Number
C:* #Ifs= 1 Cfg#= 1 Atr=c0 MxPwr=100mA
I:* If#= 0 Alt= 0 #EPs= 2 Cls=08(stor.) Sub=06 Prot=50 Driver=(none)
E: Ad=84(I) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
E: Ad=05(O) Atr=02(Bulk) MxPS= 64 Ivl=0ms
The text at I: was before something about usb-storage and now it changed so I guess I changed something with the first commands from the site about Huawei setup.
But I tried the next command anyway to see what it said and got this:
# sudo modprobe usbserial vendor=05c6 product=0x1000
bash: sudo: command not found
I am not sure what to do from here on. From what I understand it says there is no driver, or?
