Never mind - fixed it.

Sorry - I had problem signing on, but then I had a brainwave (cookies) and fixed it. Userid is the same as here, but are there instructions somewhere, because I am likely to mess something up, rather than fix it up?

No worries, there is a revision system, so if you do mess things up (which is unlikely) then we can just revert back to an old version -- so on that point it's worth adding a little note in the Log field indicating your changes.

BTW there is a Website Help page, but I haven't added anything to it yet, I will do soon though.

Thanks :)

Someone reported and I had the same problem
adding images (which was simplified)
has now been simplified to the point where images are not added :D

Too simple!
Hope there is an easy remedy . . . :)

Here is where I tried adding the image - long URL too - is it to do with the wiki addon perhaps . . .
http://www.puppylinux.org/wiki/archives ... s/tigerpup

Update:
OK managed to add image easily (after second visit) and page was saved . . . not sure what or why initial edit did not take . . .

I really liked this site which as far as I am aware
is hard to find.

And I liked Barrys' pic with the pup.

http://pupweb.org/wikka/PuppyLinuxMainPage

It was easy to navigate and locate everything.
I also linked it as a post on
Whirlpool forums as a starter for Puppy newbies.

Chris.

@ tombh

Hi tom

I came across this, and wondered if it could be added to the RSS feed on the new site, {as I don't know RSS stuff} or just a link on the intropage, maybe?

http://www.linuxreality.com/

what do you reckon?

Is there any editorial priority thing needs fixing/doing, & to relieve some boredom?

@tombh/everyone

How about a Puppy frappr map of members, so we can see where puppy has spread to globally?

http://www.frappr.com/?a=aboutus

first seen, with good effect, by me, here;

http://www.frappr.com/linuxreality

People would need to update their profiles though, I think, for it to work

could this be done, using members details, tombh?,

or put to the vote, everyone?

Eric/caneri recently posted a gun warning after posting a googlemap of his place!!

An addition to the wishlist

Can I have an instruction page

"How to add/upload a picture to this Site/Wiki"

From the web /from your PC /preferred sizes /jpg;png;gif;bmp preferred formats /reasons why it doesn't appear /how to move its position & insert text boxes around it

Poor man's desktop publishing quickie

That sort of thing, just to keep editorial requirements down

Where's that spellchecker!!

Yo,

Hey, you guys should be able to add that frappr map pretty easy. I see they provide a snippet of HTML to paste into your own webpage to display the map. So just make sure the "Input filter" is set to "Full HTML" when you paste the code. Go on, give it a go!

Website instructions are on my list of things to do, don't worry. Mmm the spellchecker I'll have to see about as i couldn't get the compressor to work on the current editor which would dramatically reduce the time taken to load the editor -- so adding more code with the spellchecker might be a bit much -- I'll give it a go though!

And as for things to do -- the WIKI is the main thing, all the "old wikka wakka" stuff needs to moved into the new categories. I fyou just wanna move a couple of pages you just need to goto the page, click "edit" then choose the relevant categories for it. But if your interested in tackling the lot then I can look into installing a module to enable batch category assignments.

Another thing to do would be to add some more "official releases", perhaps a couple form the first series, maybe even 2.14R, i think that is more an official release than a puplet. Maybe not add *all* the official versions ever, but maybe just the ones that people are likely to ever download. Then there's also adding more puplets, there's already quite a few, but I'm sure there's some popular ones still missing, like MUPPY for example!!!!!

Gosh! Also the Links page could do with a spring clean to!

Well there's some stuff to be getting on with anyway, please don't this *has* to be done, the site's great as it is, so these are just some things to give it some real polish :)

Over and Out.

Hello everyone,

I've added the Website Instructions now. Please let me know if anything else should/could be added.

Best Wishes,
tom :)

Will

I've just been to the Frappr site to put myself on the map
I was able to upload my photo to the photos page, but not the map pin
When I followed a link for help it said Pupplinux Map has not left Admin details with Frappr, and offered me the option to log in as Admin, so it would seem to be not protected :?

I see there are a fair number of people who have no photo
Don't know if this is a problem?

no idea
I've tried to upload a picture a couple of times and seamonkey has fallen over. Liw in Brussels doesn't look like any linux chick I've ever met.

I don't know where else to mention this, but on http://puppylinux.org/home/overview it says that one unique feature is the "Ability to run entirely from RAM, making it unusally fast and particularly relevant to 'thin clients' such as the ASUS EeePC."

AFAIK, an eeepc isn't a thin client, it is a sub-notebook with a solid state drive.

Hi I just came across this article

http://news.cnet.com/8301-10787_3-99579 ... 7-1_3-0-20

and wondered if there is/is to be, any written guidance on 'Blogger's rights', on this Community Website

How much control will we need to exercise for example, if we start to get commercial posts,
such as the recent multi-posted spam?

http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=29844

Is there to be a 'Your spam will be removed/reported' rule, a la forum?

Is a line to be drawn & if so, where, & who draws it, bearing in mind that John Murga has exercised control over the forum, however, this is supposed to be a new 'Community Site', isn't it?

Do we need to have a decision on this, yet, or is everyone [especially tombh], content for tombh, to be the 'policeman'?

I would certainly hope so, but it would have to be the community's decision.

Yes, it is a community site and the community is in control (within reasonable limits, of course).
Aitch wrote:Do we need to have a decision on this, yet, or is everyone [especially tombh], content for tombh, to be the 'policeman'?
Maybe. I don't think it is Tom's job as developer to police the site's policies or even create them for that matter. I'm sure he'd agree. We have a number of admins, including raffy, HairyWill, prit1, Lobster, Tom and myself.

Of course even those committed people can't do it all on their own. There does need to be a cadre of community supporters willing to assist in one capacity or another. Flash voluntarily fills that role on the forum. Maybe we need a group of such volunteers strategically located around the globe so that spam gets killed before it gets too far, regardless of when it is posted.

Any volunteers? Anyone keen to set down a policy on unwanted blog postings so we can agree/disagree on its content? All assistance welcome, in the spirit of the Puppy community. I actually think AJ might make a good "cop" as far as that goes, too! Whaddayasay, AJ? :P
