Firs we need a little bit more information.

- What Type, model and revision do you have? Different linksys addapters use different drivers

- Is it working in other Operating system or linux distribution?

- Does your wireless router broadcast the ESSID?

- Do you use WEP or WAP security

- Do you want static or dynamic IP?

If you don't know the answer to any or all of the previous questions, don't worry, just tell us and we'll try to guide you to find the answer.

Type=Wireless-G, Model=WMP54G, Version 4.0 (Release Version 3.0.3.0).

It works in Win XP and Win 2000

Don't Know what ESSID is.

WEP security.

Dynamic IP.

For that chipset you need to use the ndiswrapper.

- Download the file usr_devx.sfs from ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/ and put it in the same location where your pup001 file is.

- Find the wireless drivers for your card from windows. They must be on the CD that came with the card or somewhere under the c:/windows folder in windows. There must be two files <driver>.inf <driver>.sys. where <driver> is the driver name for your card. e.g. WMP54G.inf

- Follow the instructions to setup the ndiswrapper: http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/Installation#Install_Windows_driver

For reference, also see my article on this card, on the wiki page.

It is located here.

What version and flavor of Puppy are you using?

If you are using version 1.05, there is a setup wizard for wireless. Go to start-->setup-->wizard wizard-->wireless.

I'll have to try this with 1.05, as I have not tried it yet. But you will need the sys and inf files that rarsa noted. Skip the part on downloading ndiswrapper and the perl packages, as they should already be included in the new version of Puppy.

Just pay attention to the section on WEP, ESSID and so forth for reference.

Once I try the wizard in 1.05 I will report back and modify my article, as needed.

Cool!

Your post prompted me to try my new wireless Linksys USB adapter to work in Puppy. I need to do some tweaks, but will report on my page in the wiki.
