pptplinux usage?

Can anyone provide a quick start or guide on using pptplinux with puppy?

I was trying to follow the 'Configuration by hand' instructions at http://pptpclient.sourceforge.net/howto-debian.phtml#configure_by_hand but got lost when they mention 'pon' and 'poff'. I don't see any indication of how to get them or how to create them.
