Woohoo! I can finally manage my EZpup and EZpup Help pages!!! 8) The new wiki works great and it seems soooo much easier to use with the visual editor! Great job, Tom! NOW we're cooking! :P

@Lobster
This is a chance for you and your dedicated wiki team to create a beautiful and functional repository of knowledge for Puppy, without having to recreate all of your prior hard work on the current wiki. Please, let us know what you think, and spread the word among your fellow wiki maintainers.

woohoo
I was editing this http://74.54.199.50/~whodo/wiki/how-tos ... ronwindows but now it is gone from the list of general howtos and if I try and access the page direct I get "you are not authorized to access this page"
I just tried to create a couple of pages as well. I got the little green message on the front page saying it had been created but now I cannot find it.

@HairyWill: Oh bother :( I figured out the problem, it's to do with the input format that all wiki-entries are set to. There's 3 to choose from Filtered HTML, Full HTML and PHP code, I chose the second. The problem is that authenticated users (ie registered users without extra privileges) are only allowed to use the first.

Now the reason I set it to the second option is that the first strips some HTML tags, which break/reduce some of the migrated wiki pages. So the task is to add as many allowable tags to the Filtered HTML filter so that the pages don't break whilst keeping the security benefits of having a reduced tag-set filter.

But first sleep :)

Well done I need some zzzzs too. How far up the list of priorities is a recent changes button?

This is the answer to some of the missing content, too, Tom. For example, under Community>PuppyCE you could simply copy the minimum necessary content from the wiki page, and provide a link to that page if there is too much of interest to copy to the "front" page.

Similarly Community > Getting Involved can carry the content from Puppy's FAQ about the project and how it works.

Finally, Downloads > Software could use the grid that Lobster created for the old wiki to link to various download categories (as long as he adds EZpup to the grid, of course) :P

Man, I'm really excited that we'll have a new, bright, clean and usable Puppy web presence REAL soon! Great job!

Ah, Lob, you're ahead of the game as usual! :P

What I'd like to see is all of the top level menu items on the new web site with live content, even if it's copied from the imported wiki material. Then we can ask raffy/Barry to repoint the puppylinux.org domain here and use puppyweb.com (org?) for the current wiki. That would be all that is standing between us going LIVE! on the new site, IMHO. 8)

Okey dokey, the filter shenanigans has been sorted. Authenticated users can now edit wiki pages. Wiki pages now also use the Filtered HTML filter, so there may be some tags that still need to be allowed (ie not filtered), for instance I forgot to allow the <table> set of tags which caused some wiki pages to look wrong.

Also, as a special treat for HairyWill, I have made a "Recent Wiki Activity" block on the wiki front page -- it also has its own RSS feed! The block could do with a bit more work though, it orders by date but seems to get confused between pages and comments, it's good enough for now. In the future it could give a teaser to the page body for new pages and the log entry for updated pages -- neat eh! That reminds I haven't made revisioning default for all edits yet....

@HairyWill: How are you finding the usability of the new wiki?

@WhoDo:

Yes, definitely, I thought too that this might be a good opportunity for others to have a go at doing some 'Drupalling'.

@Community: Only admins at the moment can make actual page content, but if anyone else would like to help move stuff from the wiki to the main site I could make you an 'editor' so that you have the permissions to do this kind of thing. Here are some instructions for adding a page.

@HairyWill: How are you finding the usability of the new wiki?
I feel special.....you made me feel special.......must stop now.
I'm not sure about making links to other pages, do I need to enter a URL or is there some shortcut code, just using a page name?

I 'm going to sound like I am being fussy now. IMHO the font and font size controls just encourage people to make a mess rather than using the styles which have semantics attached to them.

I've managed to migrate the entire wikka wikki into Drupal
Congratulations!

@whodo
ask raffy/Barry to repoint the puppylinux.org domain here
Barry is your guy - he keeps the domain registration of puppylinux.org.

A ready wikka folder at the new site with htaccess redirect to pupweb.org/wikka should do the trick for linking to the old wiki.

@raffy: Thanks raffy :)

@WhoDo: Caneri was reporting a similar problem, where he would be logged on only then to be logged off when navigating to a new page. Then when he used a different browser it was all fine. So this might be something to do with browser cache, so if refreshing the browser (F5, or SHIFT+F5 for a cache refresh) makes a difference then this will isolate the problem and I will look into it as a problem with Drupal.

Yep. Sorted. I went looking for Seamonkey's cache settings and found that it was set (default) to only compare the cache page with the network page when it was out of date. I set it to compare on every visit and all is now well, although Seamonkey is a tad slower as a result.

For those with similar problems you need to set Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Cache as Compare the page in cache to the page on the network "every time I view the page".

Thanks, Tom.

new site will go live

#31 Post by raffy »

The new site is going live now - Barry has kindly pointed the puppylinux.org domain to Hostgator.

Cheers!

Edit: Contributors of the wiki who want to visit their old pages may go to http://pupweb.org/wikka/

..and of course the minute we do that, Host Gator shuts us down! Tom and I are on it, though. I'm not sure what their problem is but I'm determined to find out real quick!
