Thanks for that link!
Hardblog is a very interesting concept for a blog. No PHP or MySql -- that I like. I'm downloading it right now.

Looks like a great idea....I suppose I'm too dim-witted, but I couldn't seem to find the actual files to download....I'd like to install it and give it a whirl. What's the link you used?
Thanks

It has to be extracted from SVN. I have downloaded it, but I cannot see how to install it. The website does state that it isn't really packaged for anyone to install, more of an experimental tool. Hmm. But it does look really nice.
Hmm, I just made it into a tarball and it's 32MB. Let's see, I think there is other stuff in there. Um, there is a directory in the stuff that I downloaded that may be all that is needed, I made that into a tarball and it is 1.4MB. But, there are lots of themes in that, so if I take out all but the default theme... okay, I got it down to 45KB! Attached.
See if you can make anything of it! It would be great if we could figure out how to install it. It's written in Python, so knowledge of that would be helpful.

It looks like some stuff is missing
import email, email.Header, email.Utils
import hardblog, hardblog.cache
from hardblog import *
from hardblog.chunk
Perhaps the author might be persuaded to produce an install package is someone begs....I have no pride, so I'll try the begging routine.
I remember a lot of cgi based chat and message board stuff before php became the rage....for simple applications they were fine. I suspect that many times we are so impressed by technology that we're willing to have mysql databases, etc., to do very simple tasks.

Ha ha, yes I know about simplephpblog, it has been used before for the Puppy blog. It has serious problems. On ibiblio is logs a user out prematurely, then there were serious security problems, hackers were getting into it -- and the simplephpblog developers still haven't fixed any of that.
There are other blogs based on simplephpblog, especially FlatPress, that I may use -- I'm waiting on their next version which has improved security. The FlatPress project is more active than simplephpblog.

Yep...after my post, which I guess jumped the gun, I read more about simpleblog. I have FlatPress installed now....it's very simple.
I'll let you know if I find any more....or perhaps we can swap notes. The software I use in the web hosting business allows my customers to install several blogs...but they may be more complex than many folks need.

hmm what i found intresting was that HardBlog uses a mail account (correct me if i misunder stood...) for comments and posts...
so a spam filtering system could be put in place and i assume since it is a python script that you have to run it to update the pages....
Oh, btw your new webpage look pretty good althought the meaning of the buttons at the side is not quite clear at first.
how about changing those to the standard puppy desktop icons since they would make more sence? like the home folder icon for the homepage....and for some reason my brain has never interpreted the red circle/tool icon correctly i always thought it was a wierd sideways "C"..... LOL untill just now

They do have a mouse-over popup text message, which I hope works on all browsers.
Also, I kept the number of buttons very small, just four or five, so with very little usage of the website their meaning becomes clear and unforgettable.
