Cannot boot Puppy 3.01 after install to HD

Hi there,
I installed Puppy Linux 3.01 to my HDD on a separate partition. When it loads, it gets up to "Setting up network interfaces....[Backgrounded]" and then it sigterms, sigkills and halts the system.
It booted up off the CD just fine.
I'm wondering what the problem might be or what other information I can provide to fix this so that it boots off my hard drive.
Perhaps it cannot find my network device? I find that I can't find the network when I boot off CD.
