#1 Post by Wac »

Can any one give me step by step instructions how to install Qgis 1.8.0 on Slacko 5.5?

This already compiled version might be easier to get working.
All except qgis-1.8.0-i486-2-jah.txz are available at slackbuilds.org, but all can be downloaded as a single tarball here.

I have tried this, and it do install and shows me a message, telling me that it is installed, but it don't have a menu entry, and I can also not find any sign of it of it on my hard disk!

Whoopsy....my bad....didn't realise that link was just for sources. Anyway the usual thing is to download all the dependencies, extract them, then:

./configure --prefix=/usr
make
make install

Also, good habit to read any INSTALL files, & run ./configure --help | more to see any configure options.

I'll have a go at compiling myself & get back to you.

cheers
