Congratulation for the launching of Puppy 4.
However why Distrowatch use that button as Puppy logo?
It looks more like a seal not a puppy
(As been discussed before on other thread).
Why not put ears on the button to make it looks more puppyish.
(Then it will fit also as button on every backgrounds)
Thank you.

Ha ha, yes, you're right, it does look like a seal!
Your change looks good!

Hey, I like that logo!

afgs: Could you post your logo in Forum index » Taking the Puppy out for a walk » Puppy Power » New Puppy Logo!

I bet your modification is a good candidate!

Cheers

Indeed puppyish! I love this logo.

I am using this as my avatar. Please have mercy on me! Because I can't create with my own.

Although i can change my avatar if someone will not agree.

Terrific logo

I agree. This is one dandy pup. Attractive, friendly, modern and lovable.

Thanks BarryK, inged, Pizzasgood, reckrhodes, dogone.
However in his blog, Barry wants the logo to have equal horizontal and vertical dimensions without empty space on the top and bottom.
Here's my solutions (the light-grey one is actually transparent).

These look great, afgs! I posted this one to the blog before I saw your response in this thread. I just tried to stay with the look Barry liked for his web page, but added ears along the lines you suggested.

"With ears from afgs" go's with every thing and looks good when small.

Thar's one company that has a possible claim "BlueDog inc." (there business model appears to be FOSS related) There logo doesn't look anything like "with ears from afgs". I guess it all depends on how litigious thy are.

Others need to check this out the inter-web is a big place after all.

Hi I like the round dog looks buttttttttttt, When do you ever see a blue dog?????
How about grey or brown, black, tan whatever just a natural colour dog.
It would look more professional.
Well Thats my opion. ttuuxxx
ps Great work :)

LOL! I'll tell ya when! After 9 to 10 months of a good ol' Maine winter here in the States, that's when! OUCH!

Sorry Tux my man---but I simply could NOT resist! hehe! Blame it on the devil I guess?

Actually, re: these icons? I think they're stupendous! Really the "Cat's Meow", or "The Dog's Woof". And since I'm colourblind I'll pretend they're brown---whatever colour "brown's" supposed to be. -nyuk! nyuk!- :P I think later I'll make a menu button for my LXpanel later when I'm finished harassing everyone here for the day...

Amicalement,

@ ttuuxxx, you've a good point. Anyway if you open the transparent puppy button in Gimp then add colored background, you can change the button color.

@ Feverfew, maybe you could compare the grey puppy button with the apple logo?

@ Eyes-Only, I would like to see how it looks on the panel.

compare the grey puppy logo with the apple logo

Yellow looks good too bad theirs a Yellow Dog distro already .

I thought the main argument about Ubuntu's look and feel is centered around the over use of brown. Now why use brown (or shads their of)? maybe because their logo go's with so few colors .

By request.

How to Make derivatives of "With ears from afgs".

"Bucket fill" the white backing to color of choice, Throw the Overlay over and "Aline visible layers" then "Merged visible layers". Then enjoy the product of many hours and gallons of blood, sweat, and tears. 8) :)

ttuuxx, ha ha, yes, if we ever need to show Puppy as unhappy, your first photo is great. However, I displayed it at 48x48 and the downturned mouth is not clearly seen -- at least to my bleary old eyes!

Hi Barry I retouched up the mouth so its more evident and made them 96x96 & 48x48
