Hello - new to this site...
I currently have a Fujitsu Stylistic 1200 music player running slackware 10 off of a CF card @ 159MB usage, however after snooping around here I have Puppy-envy. My current installation lacks a browser and is quite slow.

120MHz PI w/ 20MB ram
256MB CF-IDE
100MB PCMCI flash swap (I would really like to lose the pcmcia swap and use remainder of cf...)
100mb pcmcia ethernet card (wired)
Sound is ISA sb

I realize that I would have to use the 15MB pup001 file which includes the full Xorg server, since I will need the fpit pen driver as well as the neomagic display driver.

How much of my 256MB CF card could I reclaim with by switching to Puppy. I only need music player(s), xorg (w/fvwm2 probably), and (would like) mozilla. Some widgets would be nice too (system monitors, weather, clock etc...).

Any advice ("don't waste your time" OR "yes, go for it!") would be appreciated.

...correction: will have 144MB ram; just ordered the upgrade out of excitement of running linux completely in ram on this handheld!

concerning memory it should work.

Don't know how good Soundblasters are supported, just try :)

Puppy comes with JWM instead fvwm2, it is smaller.
You also may install evilwm, icewm, fvwm95, xfce, fluxbox.

I once installed fvwm2, but it is quite huge. http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic ... ight=fvwm2
And i think I did not add all files needed to the dotpup (recognized that somewhen later)

Mozilla is part of Puppy.

For those who aren't familiar with this computer, it's a nice little tablet, if you can find one.

Xneomgic (instead of Xvesa)? and fpit (pen) driver?

How can I replace Xvesa with Xneomagic (rather than using Xorg)?
Also, do the Kdrive xservers include pen core pointer support - specifically for "fpit" in my case???
