/opt is in ram, and anything installed in /opt will be gone after Puppy reboots
if Puppy is installed option 2 on the hard drive, /opt is on the hard drive

It could just be me... but I think OO2 opens and saves faster on Puppy than it does on my newer Dell with XP. As far as comparing OO to MS Office, I think the functionality is better with OO - it opens files from various proprietary applications including wordperfect and MS Office and it prints to PDF files. If the newest version of MS Office does that, and I don't know that it will, it will only be catching up to OO.
