I might be wrong but Opera doesnt seem to have predictive browsing in the google search box. In firefox you start typing a search and it offers suggested completions.I like this feature.Does anyone know how to get this option in opera?
If this cant be done is there a way to make Firefox the default browser?
It would also be good to know how to make shortcuts icons on the desktop for things like skype.
Setting up Muppy 008.3
I'm glad, that you like Muppy
I don't know how to set the autocompletition for the googlebox in Opera.
To set firefox as default:
edit /usr/local/bin/defaultbrowser.
From:
to:
Desktop-Icons:
Most applications are in /usr/local/bin.
So in the filemanager you can drag for example
/usr/local/bin/skype
on your desktop.
You just can't do this with XFE, it has a different Drag'n'drop protocol.
Use the filemanager from the "files" icon.
You then can right-click the new icon, and choose:
file skype - set icon
Then drag
/usr/local/Skype-2.0.0.68/icons/SkypeBlue_48x48.png
on the dialog to set the icon.
Sometimes, it is difficult to find the corresponding icon.
Look in /usr/local/, if there is a folder for your application, like for skype.
Sometimes, there are icons in subfolders.
Or use on of the standard-icons in:
/usr/share/pixmaps/
or:
/usr/local/lib/X11/pixmaps/
or:
/usr/share/icons/

Thanks for your great work on Muppy and your very quick reply.
I dont think "auto complete" does exist as an option for the Google box in Opera as I have found a few complaints about it on the Opera websight.
I got the icons onto the desktop ok and with the Firefox icon there, I dont need to make it the default as you prefer.
My only serious problem now is when I use my Logitech webcam. The picture looks fine on Muppywebcam but in Skype it is badly off to one side and very bad resolution.I will begin a thread on this in Advanced Topics /Hardware /Video forum.
Thanks
GREG
