dialup networking

#1 Post by bene0404z »

howdy

i'm a puppy newbie running 3.01 and trying to get dialup working. i've tried various modem search techniques uncovered in this forum, including wvdialshell. all attempts come back with no device found. references to 'www.worldvisions.ca/wvdial/' do not seem to work (no such page).

the modem works in Win XP Prof, and i have logged control panel info below (+ + + + + to _ _ _ _ _).

on the forum i saw a Dec'07 start of a list of Win Modems that work with puppy, but only one modem was listed.

Q1. Is the Manuf code 'CXT' for Connexant?
Q2. Are all Connexant modems 'Win' modems?
Q3. The system has a Dell Rambus m/b, about 5 yrs old. Might puppy 4.00 detect this modem?
Q4. Any suggestions on what to try next?

thanks for your help,
bene

hello bene0404z,

puppy comes with support for several different types of winmodem, unfortunately not for conexant types though. But, if it is a conexant modem, then you still might be able to get it working. I'm entering this via a conexant pci winmodem.

If you run Menu->System->Pupscan, for your pci devices, puppy should at least detect the card & give the vendor & product ID's. From the win98 info you've provided I don't know whether it's a conexant HCF or HSF modem...maybe someone else might have a better idea?

But if you can find vendor 0x???? device 0x????, then it should be clearer.
