latestnews vs. newsletter |

I had e-mailed ladislav at distrowatch to see if I could get latestnews
onto the newsletter topic. This did'nt work out.

Newsletter |

Newsletter is usually emailed (it is traditionally printed and snail-mailed).
There is nothing wrong with up-to-date news, except perhaps the demand on the time of the person doing it
And you're doing great there

I don't see where the newsletter part comes in. Were you trying to get it published or something? As raffy said, a newsletter is a letter. A news page is a page. I prefer the page myself. It's more up to date. The main reason some of us (not me, though I am in favor of it) wanted a newsletter was to avoid wading through thousands of posts each week. The news page also accomlishes this. Instead of getting it in your mail, you go to the page. It's just a single page instead of 1500 posts.
But no, it's not a newsletter, and no, I don't think it should be changed.

I think what klh means is to have Puppy listed on the left column of http://distrowatch.com website:
That's a great idea and will give puppy more exposure!
That can be done with CMSimple using a plugin (I haven't installed it yet). iWare has the newsletter (you can also call it Mailing List, as the newsletter will be mailed to subscribed users) feature preinstalled too:

Newsletter can be published easily after login.
I think we can simply combine 7-days news of the developer news and the wiki news
Here are some example newsletters of other distros:

Btw I think brad_chuck has suggested something similar (a Puppy Mailing List) in THIS THREAD too.
