hi

have you tried typing modprobe emu10k1 into a console, then using the alsamixer?

I believe the emu10k1 has been in puppy since late 2005 & people have had at least the sblive & audigy working, so it may just be a configuration thing

try turning off plug'n'pray in bios, and make sure acpi is on

another possibility is interrupts

try typing at the 5second bootup menu

puppy acpi=noirq, or

puppy pci=biosirq

Installing in Puppy 4 ha ha

#3 Post by bill »

Hello Aitch,Thanks for your counsel ,I have finally gotten around to working on it and just scratching the surface. The most important thing I became aware of (being mentally quick  ) was that while I was doing a mkdir ? this directory does not happen until Puppy 4 is rebooted and that directory shows up if you are running solely on the Live Cd. I wonder if other newbies have had this scare them off without ever realizing it.Like they say "live and learn " cheers.bill
